Choosing the Right Paperboard
The first step in creating appropriate candle boxes is to choose an adequate paperboard thickness to make sure it withstands the weight of your candle. While we offer five different paperboard options, starting from the thinnest paperboard at 17.2pt, for candle boxes we recommend a more solid paperboard:
- 19.2pt White SBS Paperboard
- 19.2pt Metallic Paperboard
- 18pt Kraft Paperboard can also work if your candle is less than or around 15oz.
Choosing the Right Bottom Closing
Next, just as important as paper is the closing style of the box. For candles we always recommend a lock bottom box or a crash bottom box. Both of these closing styles provide more structure to the bottom of the box than a regular straight tuck would provide.
By choosing either a lock bottom box or a crash bottom box for your candle box, you’ll be sure that your candle jars or any type of container you use will stay inside the box and the bottom won’t crash under the weight of the product.
